NTPC net profit up 5 percent

Mumbai, Jan 29 – State-owned power generation major NTPC Friday reported a 5 percent increase in third quarter (October-December) net profit at Rs.2,364.9 crore (Rs.23.65 billion/$511 million) from Rs.2,250,9 crore in the corresponding period the previous fiscal.
The company’s total income, however fell 1.36 percent to Rs.11,962.8 crore in the quarter under review from Rs.12,128.3 crore in the year-ago quarter, the company said in a regulatory statement.
At the Bombay Stock Exchange, the NTPC scrip was 0.32 percent down at Rs.215 Friday afternoon.
The total installed capacity of the company is 31,134 MW, after it commissioned a 490 MW thermal power plant at Dadri, Uttar Pradesh.
